We’re between the Severn Valley and Chelmarsh Reservoir with footpaths, bridleways and cycle routes on the doorstep. Golfing and fishing are also popular activities here – with championship courses and fantastic fishing spots nearby.

Best cycle routes in Shropshire

There’s no better way to explore the charms of the Shropshire countryside on a balmy sunny day than on the seat of a bicycle. The Dinney is located on the National Cycle Route 45. It offers unhindered cycling through the lanes and byways of the Shropshire countryside. For mountain bikers, the Jack Mytton Way offers some challenging off-road routes. Whether you are cycling or mountain biking, there are plenty of recognised rides throughout Shropshire. Guests may can bring their own bikes or hire them from the local dealer.  As we are set deep in the countryside, it is a particularly safe place for children to ride their bikes.

We’re surrounded by some excellent golf courses, with the nearest being at the end of the drive!  Whatever your skill level, there is a course nearby that will suit you. Astbury Championship Golf Club  is right next door. Also nearby are Bridgnorth Golf Club by the River Severn, and Enville Golf Club, which has two championship courses.

The Dinney is a great base for a fishing break. We are ideally located for a number of Birmingham Anglers Association waters and private pools, providing great fishing for carp, roach, pike, chubb and barbel. If you’re heading here to fish, we’re happy to recommend some good spots, including Bolding Fishing Pools in Bridgnorth – a well established fishing complex nestled in beautiful Shropshire countryside. The River Severn is also just a stone’s throw from The Dinney with serious fishing for barbel and some Birmingham Anglers Association stretches.

With grazing and stabling at The Dinney, why leave your horse at home? We’re surrounded by Shropshire countryside, with its 600 miles of byways and bridleways for you to explore. Alternatively, Shropshire Adventures offers lessons, instructional treks for beginners and two-day trail rides for experienced riders.

Water sports in Shropshire 

With Chelmarsh Reservoir and the River Severn close by, there are loads of opportunities for both beginners and experienced sailors to get out on the water. Just 10 minutes away, Chelmarsh Sailing Club offers sailing, paddleboarding and open water swimming. Or, during spring and summer, explore the River Severn from the water on a canoe trip.
